The relative abundance of antimatter to matter in the cosmic rays is an indicator of the propagation history of galactic cosmic rays as well as a window into possible exotic sources of antimatter, such as black hole or neutron star environments or certain dark matter predictions. We have measured the antiproton to proton and positron to electron abundance ratios from 5 to 50 GeV with the HEAT balloon-borne instrument. HEAT utilizes a magnetic spectrometer combined with a dE/dx technique to identify both positive and negative singly charged particles in the cosmic rays. This talk describes gives a brief overview of the HEAT instrument, as well as measurement results and implications.
