During the Turbulent Oxygen Mixing Experiment (TOMEX), a rocket was launched from White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. In situ wind measurements were obtained along the rocket trajectory from the releases of tri-methyl aluminum (TMA) between 85 and 130 km altitude. Simultaneous wind measurements between 85 and 105 km altitude were also obtained with a sodium lidar from Albuquerque, New Mexico, pointing to the same volume of the atmosphere. The results of these wind measurements will be presented and compared.
