The radio flux of the quiet sun and the brightness temperature at 408
MHz (73 cm) are derived from measurements with the E-W Nancay
interferometer and the E-W arm of the Medicina North Cross. It is shown
that the lowest envelopes, which defined the radio quiet sun, correspond
to transits of extended coronal holes across the disk.
