I am using the CU / NASA Ames CARMA (Community Aerosol and Radiation Model Atmosphere) code to model the microphysical and radiative properties of the Venus middle cloud deck. The current (1-D) model reproduces the globally averaged Venus atmosphere -- as compared with Pioneer Venus LCPS observations -- in particle concentration and optical depth. The current model now conserves particle number, as well as particle mass in the simulation of nucleation, growth and evaporation of two species (sulfuric acid and water). We have coupled a radiation code to the microphysics to investigate the radiative forcings in the cloud.
This work is funded through grant NCC2-1052.
