Some methodological problems related to the estimation of the absorption path of gamma-hadron families in the atmosphere from data on angular distribution in an X-ray emulsion chamber are discussed, with particular reference to the analysis of the gamma-hadron families detected during the Pamir experiment. Possible errors in determining the absorption path are identified.
