In the analysis of tidal gravity observations made at Asuka Station, Antarctica, Schwiderski's (1980) cotidal maps were used to make corrections for the effects of ocean tides. The response of the deformable earth to lunar-solar tidal forces is defined by ocean-tide corrected gravimetric factors. While diurnal gravimetric factors agreed with factors derived from statistical formulas, semidiurnal gravimetric factors (M2 and S2) exceeded theoretical values by 10 percent. Semidiurnal M2 factors tended to increase from the equator to the high latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere. Schwiderski's cotidal chart may be responsible for the increasingly inaccurate corrections for the ocean tides. The value of gravity admittance of -0.24 micro-Gal/mbar at Asuka Station, in contrast to the typical value of -0.35 micro-Gal/mbar for normal crust, may be due to the deformation of the ice sheet by an air mass over the site.
