By considering an Ernst space time background describing a black hole in an axial magnetic field, the author discusses the radial and polar dependence of the field of a Q matter layer in such a background. Such a configuration may mimic the physical state surrounding a condensed neutron star that may represent a potential source of higher energy gamma ray bursts.
