We consider the relative contributions of different sources of magnetospheric magnetic field to the Dst-variation using the dynamic model of the Earth's magnetosphere. The calculated magnetic field was obtained from solar wind observation and geomagnetic indices for the magnetic storm of 23-24 Mar 1969. The main attention will be paid to the current system of the magnetospheric tail whose rapid variations enable fast changes in Dst.
