Permafrost is defined as any soil or rock material, regardless of the amount of moisture content, that has remained below 273K for more than two years. Rossbacher and Judson (1981) modeled thicknesses of permafrost at latitudes of 10° increments. This paper reexamines the approach used by Rossbacher and Judson in analyzing the Martian thermal regime and extends the analysis.
