The MACHO experiment has surveyed some 2 million red clump stars in a roughly 8o× 8o area of the Galactic bulge centred on (l,b)=(4o,-6o). These stars have reliable photometric distances and are used as tracer for a preliminary derivation of the three-dimensional structure of the Milky Way's bulge/bar.
