The one-dimensional non-linear equations for a viscous fluid with finite
thermal conductivity are solved to get an exact solution for a steady
vertical flow. The stability of such a steady flow is examined to find
that the viscosity has a very pronounced stabilizing influence on
convective and acoustic modes.
