Low resolution IUE spectra of Mk 108 were studied to see if an H1 gas cloud was accelerated away from a neighboring galaxy to form Mk 108, or whether the cloud is associated with a dwarf galaxy now undergoing a burst of star formation seen as Mk 108. The UV continuum can be fitted to a mixture of 5000 main sequence and supergiant stars, but their optical luminosity is only a fraction of that of Mk 108. The IUE data show that Mk 108 recently underwent a very large burst of star formation, but initial mass function and absorption data are necessary to understand ongoing processes.
