A detailed calculation of solar O III EUV line intensities is described, including the process of photoexcitation by He II Lyman-α. Excellent agreement with observed intensities is found for a photoexciting radiation field of intensity 9.8 × 10-8 ergs cm-2 s-1 sr-1 per Hz. The presence of some O III lines in flares is discussed. The process of charge exchange does not appear to be a significant factor in formation of the O III spectrum.
