Low Accretion Rate Polars (LARPs) constitute a handful of recently-discovered magnetic cataclysmic variables characterized by very pronounced, well-separated cyclotron emission features, indicative of accretion rates well below the floor set by gravitational radiation in semi-detached binaries. These systems are intrinsically very faint (MB ⪉ +12.5). We deduce for them a space density approaching that of AM Her stars, and propose a model in which the magnetic field of the white dwarf captures the entire stellar wind of its detached M dwarf companion.
