A worldwide Technical Test was performed during October to December, 1984. The test was arranged by the Group of Scientific Experts in Geneva, and included exchange of readings of periods and amplitudes of seismic noise in the short-period band. Each reading was made on maximum noise in a 30 s interval. Most of the values read are within the minimum and maximum values previously determined by Brune and Oliver. For stations in Denmark and Greenland, monthly mean values are found to agree with earlier measurements. For stations in Norway and Sweden, agreement is found between stations with different instrumentation. These agreements suggest that fairly reliable information on seismic noise statistics may be obtained from this type of measurement.
