We propose to observe the SiO(2-1) and HNCO(4-3) lines in 7 nearby galaxies, as well as the 1-0 transition lines of HCN, HNC and HCO+. The latter ones have already successfully been used to interpret the physical properties of the nuclear gas in nearby galaxies. This analysis also revealed that a number of sources have line ratios that cannot be explained by radiative processes alone. The objective of this proposal is to identify role of shock heating related to star-formation feedback and to starburst evolution, by comparing the relative strengths of SiO and HNCO with the HCN, HNC and HCO+ line ratios. Analysis of a limited sample shows an anti-correlation between the HNCO abundance and the HNC/HCN line ratio.
