Solar Magnetic Fields: Solar Flares, Solar Magnetic Fields: Solar Photosphere
Scientific paper
Using the vector magnetic field measurements the authors have studied the scaling of photospheric magnetic field and current helicity Bz·(∇×B)z during the periods of high flare activity in two active regions. The results allow to assume that from the very onset of a flare the transverse photospheric magnetic field undergoes significant changes, namely, the fluctuations energy is reduced as well as the spatial structure gets more simple: the transverse field becomes more smooth what seems to be explained by the dissipation of the pre-existing internal tangential discontinuities.
