If the BATSE instrument is a few times more sensitive than previously flown detectors, the value of (sin2 b) measured by BATSE may be in agreement with a model in which the gamma-ray bursts are distributed uniformly in a disk. The value of predicted by that model is higher than the one reported by BATSE, but the statistical error is hard to asses when the actual value if different from 0.5. A two dimensional analogue of the test would be more useful in testing disk models.
