Using GINGA, we detected electron cyclotron resonance effects in the spectra from about 8 X-ray pulsars. The results imply that the magnetic fields of X-ray pulsars exhibit a relatively small scatter, namely (1-4)×1012 G. There is no evidence of magnetic field decay at least over a time scale of 107 yr or shorter. We have arrived at a semi-empirical spectral model which can describe the observed pulsar spectra very well. The model consists of an unsaturated Comptonization continuum and cyclotron resonance that appear in absorption. This gives a clear insight into the physical condition of the accretion column of X-ray pulsars. This work is collaborative with Dr. T. Mihara of RIKEN.
