Results are presented of an archival study of the variation of the UV continuum in 5 Cet based on previously observed low-dispersion spectra. The variations of UV fluxes are found to differ from the variations of optical light. For the former the minimum and maximum occur at phases of 0.25 and 0.89, respectively. The UV radiation of 5 Cet mainly comes from the K2III primary and the hot spot. The former provides the constant component, while the latter results in the peculiarity of the UV light curves. The least squares fitting shows that the primary has a temperature of 43,000 K and a radius of 23 solar radii, and that the hot spot has a temperature and an area of 11,200 K and 2.65 x 10 exp 21 sq cm, respectively.
