The spatial and temporal variation of methane in the Martian atmosphere can be interpretted to reveal its source location and duration of emission using a detailed description of the physics of the atmosphere. The MarsWRF general circulation model has been used to derive constraints on the source and duration of the methane emission detected by Mumma et al.
