By means of a spectroscopic survey of old planetary nebulae it definitely confirms the planetary nebula status of S 68 (PK 030 + 06 1) and detects the 'hybrid' nature of its nucleus: the spectrogram shows strong C IV and He II lines similar to those of the PG 1159 stars, and strong Balmer lines, indicating a quite unusual composition. The nucleus of S 68 constitutes obviously a new class of hot central stars which is in conflict with present evolutionary scenarios.
