We present a new way of representation of trigonometric polynomials by the use of Lagrangean type orthonormal functions. We develop special formulae for trigonometric interpolation of periodic even or odd functions defined in [0, π]. The method is generalized to obtain explicit form of trigonometric interpolation in case of unequally spaced points. The idea contained in this introductory work can be generalized for the definition of a new set of spherical harmonics useful in problems of satellite geodesy. Theory and numerical examples of this last subject will be presented in a separate paper.
