COS spectra will be very useful for answering the question of how chromospheric and coronal activity of stars decline as stars lose angular momentum and magnetic fields with age. This question is important for modelling the atmospheres of young planets that are blasted by strong ultraviolet radiation and winds from young stars. COS will obtain spectra of solar mass stars with a range of ages from 10 Myr to 7 Gyr.;
