Based on a minute subset of CADIS, the authors presented the first candidates for Ly-α emitting PGs (primeval galaxies) at redshifts z = 5.7 in the field. If their redshifts are confirmed, these objects are the very first objects detected at z > 5. Because of the authors' relatively strict veto conditions, they expect that at least some of the candidate PGs will turn out to be in fact at a redshift of z = 5.7. The results show that despite the negative results of previous experiences the search for Ly-α emission of PGs becomes extremely promising as soon as one gets deep enough and searches at high enough redshifts.
