Extremely low solar activity, that has been going on already for the third year provokes a question if a more pronounced minimum of the Maunder minimum type begins. The first part of the contribution discussesthis kind of long-term solar activity extremes. In the second part, a rough prognosis for the 21st century based on patterns in the long-term solar activity evolution is made, namely, that in the second half of this century there should be a long-term maximumpreceded by low solar activity with 12 to 14 year solar cycles.
