In the framework of the prerelativistic Newton-Cartan theory supplemented by a preferred timelike vector field we obtain a gravitational potential describing properly the observed perihelion shift of Mercury and leading to a gravitational radius for a spherically symmetric body.
Discussions with A. Dimakis and F. Müller-Hoissen, 0Göttingen, have been very helpful.
