Luminous Blue Variables (LBVs) are massive stars that have attained a very bright and unstable stage in their lives. Their properties and the processes causing their variability are not well understood. Long- term changes are documented for a number of LBVs, but the timescales for different kinds of variability are not well characterized for the population as a whole. We have begun a survey to examine the long term behavior of LBVs through spectroscopy and photometry. Our goal is to continue monitoring a sample of 14 LBVs spectroscopically using the CTIO 1.5 m and the Cassegrain Spectrograph, and to monitor η Carinae with the Bench Mounted Echelle spectrograph on the CTIO 1.5 m. With a combination of these data and archival data, our analysis will lead to a better understanding of the mechanisms that cause the long term variability and will help us place this population in the context of massive stellar evolution.
