Values are given for the trace-element contents of three standard rocks issued by the National Bureau of Standards, namely the argillaceous limestone, the plastic clay, and the soda feldspar. Samples of these rocks were analysed semi-quantitatively by a spectrographic method. The distribution of trace elements between the carbonate and the non-carbonate fractions of the limestone indicated that lanthanum and yttrium are possibly present as replacement cations for calcium, and scandium may be replacing either calcium or magnesium.
