The interaction of magnetic monopoles with the magnetic fields of pulsars is investigated using Schwinger's (1969) dyon concept of magnetic monopoles. The case in which collision with the stellar surface occurs within a reasonably small cone around the magnetic axis is considered. It is estimated that pulsars might have a capture cross section for monopoles of about 10 to the 18th to 20th power per sq cm. Impinging monopoles would be funneled into the polar regions of pulsars, in contrast to a relatively even distribution in the case of normal stars. The persistence of pulsar magnetic fields may set a more stringent limit on the cosmic flux of magnetic monopoles than that currently accepted. Pulsars may be prolific sources of very high energy monopoles.
