Current investigations of fine structure of the magnetic field on the sun are reviewed. Mention is made of two remarkable discoveries: (1) the observation of filigrees in the H-alpha wing by Dunn (1973), and (2) the discovery by Stenflo (1973) of small regions of less than 100-km diameter with magnetic field strengths of around 2000 gauss. The principles of three-slot magnetography are reviewed.
