A new calibration technique is described which allows a monochromatic source and detectors to be obtained as secondary standards in the vacuum ultraviolet spectral range. The method of operation is based on the comparison, against a thermopile, between an ultraviolet flux from a monochromator and the total flux from a blackbody simulator. The over-all uncertainty does not exceed 20 per cent.
