The problem considered is that of three material bodies having axial symmetry and symmetry with respect to the plane perpendicular to the axis of symmetry. One body is passive in the sense that its elementary particles exert no influence on the elementary particles of the two active bodies. The plane motion of the center of mass of the passive body is studied on the assumption that the forces acting on elementary particles are given as functions of distance and the first and second derivatives. Solutions analogous to the Lagrange and Euler solutions of the classical restricted problem are demonstrated, and their stability is investigated.
