After presenting the basic equations for measurement of solar diameters by means of a scanning heliometer, attention is given to the processing of the rough data for the cases of oblateness evaluation, medium term oscillation detection, and the investigation of secular diameter changes. Corrective terms are applied for solar oblateness, for the shift of the inflection point of the profile toward the center of the disk, and for image motion which transports each limb by a random amount.
