Scientific paper

In this paper, a description is provided of European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) capabilities to measure ionospheric parameters in the E and F regions simultaneously. Especially the multipulse technique used for E region study is discussed. The behavior of the auroral ionosphere during a period with low energy input and its response to precipitation of electrons with wide energy spectrum is shown. Finally, neutral density measurements in the lower thermosphere for two different days with different energy input are shown.
