The response of the shaded ionosphere to the passage of internal gravity waves (IGWs) during magnetospheric substorms is examined on the basis of published data. A procedure for predicting variations of F2-layer parameters during the passage of IGWs generated during magnetospheric substorms in the shaded ionosphere in equinox and winter periods in the solar maximum phase is developed. The prediction is made on the basis of empirical dependences of variations of (Delta-hp)m and (Delta-f0F2)m on maximum values of (AE)m and on the basis of time variations of Delta-hp.
