The effective coefficients of photoelectron backscattering (PBS) in the ionosphere and plasmasphere are determined on the basis of the numerical solution of the kinetic equation for photoelectrons. The PBS-related redistribution over the length of flux tubes of the energy transmitted to the thermal electrons is assessed. Normalized fluxes of energy and their differences characterizing the heating of the plasmasphere are calculated for symmetric conditions with and without allowance for PBS in the ionosphere and plasmasphere.
