The Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer/Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet (TOMS/SBUV) merged total ozone data, and the Tibetan Plateau radiosonde reports during the period from 1979 to 2002 are used in this paper, we study the decadal variations of temperature and geopotential height over the Tibetan Plateau and their relationship with changes of Tibet total ozone. It is found that temperature and geopotential height over the Tibetan Plateau have displayed declining trends in the stratosphere and positive trends in the troposphere since the late 1970s, well consistent with Tibet total ozone depletion. The possible role of ozone in long-term changes of temperature and geopotential height is proposed.
