Time-series observations of short period variables, such as subdwarf B pulsating stars, can help determine stellar structures through the tools of asteroseismology. Spectroscopic data is particularly useful in determining modes of pulsation as described by spherical harmonics. Hopefully, this will lead to a better understanding of stellar evolution and even reveal unknown physics.
We obtained time-series spectroscopic data of the subdwarf B star PG1219+534 during a four night run at the Kitt Peak National Observatory 4 meter telescope in February 2005. Because of weather and mechanical difficulties, we were only able to obtain 154 spectra over 1.5 hours of clear skies. We present an analysis of these data along with three years of photometric data.
