Solar Flares: Classification

Scientific paper

On the basis of five optical variables a partial numerical classification of solar flares is made. Ward's method with the use of Wishort's algorithm is used. The percentage of agreement, when the visual scale for brightness is included, is 80%, the classification permits to know directly the different ways in which the variables are combined in each class.
