The FAST spacecraft has encountered the Earth's cusp regions repeatedly during its 4.5 years of operations, particularly near its apogee of 4175 km. The cusp encounters are characterized by keV dispersed ion injections of solar wind origin, yet typically also include signatures of local acceleration processes, such as series of inverted-V electron distributions with energies near a few hundred eV and intense (> 100 mV/m) broadband electric fields from DC to 1 kHz (typical). We have examined in detail ~1000 such cusp encounters gathered on noon-midnight FAST crossings of the dayside auroral region. We characterize the data first by the ion dispersion signatures, for which the sign of the slope of the ion energy vs. latitude depends on the sign of the Bz component of the IMF. We also delineate step-like ion injection structures, multiply ion banding, and "leakage" onto closed field lines, and relate this to the IMF and other geophysical parameters, where feasible. The data are analyzed with the goal of distinguishing between signatures of injection processes at the magneosheath and those of local acceleration processes in the cusp proper.
