Recent progress toward the understanding of stellar accretion disks owes
much to the standard viscosity prescription by Shakura and Sunyaev. In
this review, the author summarizes characteristic time-dependent
properties of accretion disks based on the standard viscosity model, and
discusses their observational implications.
