The combination of a transit mounted on a tripod provides a very flexible apparatus for measuring angles in astronomy laboratory activities. These activities can include measurements of horizon coordinates (azimuth and altitude), equatorial coordinates (right ascension and declination), and a measurement of the angular velocity of Earth. Other activities can also be developed based on this apparatus.
