The paper examines the determination of the coefficient of the color term in the P-L-C relation for cepheids. It was suggested by Brodie and Madore (1980) and Clube and Dawe (1980) that the coefficient derived by Martin et al. (1979) is not significantly affected by taking into account an absorption induced correlation between the errors in previous photoelectric photometry and the period-luminosity-color relation. The computer simulation of Brodie and Madore work which shows the bias introduced in the color coefficient when it is derived by an inappropriate method such as least squares, shows that it is consistent with theory and agrees with the actual results in the LMC. This confirms the results of Martin et al. which are derived by a maximum likelihood method taking into account errors in each variable.
