The orbit of Jupiter's eight satellite Pasiphae has been numerically integrated for 50,000 yrs both forward and backward in time. Based on this 100,000 yr time span, it is discovered that Pasiphae appears to be in a secular resonance with Jupiter; i.e., the rate of Pasiphae's ecliptic longitude of perijove is very close to the nu-dot(5) eigenfrequency of the system of planetary orbits. It is shown that this phenomenon acts as a protection mechanism inasmuch as it partially insulates Pasiphae from solar perturbations.
