We report and discuss preliminary results obtained from the analysis of a sample of X-ray pulsars observed by SAX and XTE. The sample includes GX 1+4, a ~125s period low-mass X-ray pulsar which shows extreme properties and spin-up/down behaviour, 4U 0142+614, a member of the recently identified class of ``Anomalous'' X-ray pulsars, SMCX-1, a short period (~0.71s) X-ray pulsar in a high-mass binary, and RX J0146.9+6121, the slowest spinning accreting neutron star currently known (~25 min period).
