We present the BeppoSAX LECS and MECS observation of a serendipitous source in the GRB 970508 field. At variance with 1SAX J0653.8+7916, the other source in the field, this source is outside the WFC error box of the GRB 970508. The light curve of the source does not show evidence of variability: it is therefore not correlated with the GRB event. Thanks to the long exposure time, about 38000sec in LECS and 137000sec in MECS, we were able to study the source spectrum in detail and it is consistent with a spectrum emitted by a stellar corona. We associate the observed X-ray source with the RASS X-ray source 1RXS J065213.8+790855 and with the star CCDM J06522+7909A (MB=13.0).
