We present results from an analysis of CME ejecta detected at the ACE spacecraft between 1998 and 2000. The results indicate anomalous composition signatures of CMEs in both elemental and charge state composition. We discuss the anomalous elemental composition in the framework of elemental fractionation and magnetic field diffusion models. This analysis has important implications for understanding the origin and propogation of coronal mass ejections and the solar magnetic field regeneration.
