We are using images obtained with LASCO to study correlations between CME parameters and the occurrence of metric Type II radio bursts. In particular, contemporary theories, based on SMM data, suggest a strict causal relationship between CME speeds and the production of metric Type II's. We will analyze how this relationship unfolds for Type II events occurring since the beginning of the LASCO mission in 1996, and look for solar cycle effects. We will also examine the speed of metric Type II's in comparison to LASCO derived CME speeds.
