Density Waves: Galactic Disk
Scientific paper
Density waves in the galactic disk have been considered by many authors as the real cause of generation of large scale spiral arms in the disk galaxies. Propagation of the density waves through the galactic disk has been analysed by various authors over the last few decades, but so far, only linear perturbations have been considered. In the present paper, the authors have analysed the problem considering the nonlinear effects. It is found that nonlinear effects are important in analysing the density wave phenomena in the outer region of the galactic disk.
